Toyota Highlander Service Manual: Replacement

HINT:

1. Manual seat type: REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH

CAUTION:

(a) Remove the front seat RH (see page 72-1 1).

(b) Remove the front seat cushion shield inner RH (see page 72-1 1).

(c) Remove the front seat inner belt RH.

  1.  Disconnect the connector and clamp.
  2.  Remove the nut and belt.

REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH


(d) Install the front seat inner belt RH.

  1.  Install the belt with the nut.

    Torque: 42 NVm (428 kgfVcm, 31 ftVlbf)

NOTICE: Do not allow the anchor part of the front belt and the protruding part of the floor panel to overlap.

(e) Connect the clamp and connector.

(f) Connect the battery's negative battery terminal..

(g) Initialize the occupant classification sensor (see page 72-1 1 or 72-19 )..

(h) Check the SRS warning lamp (see page 60-1 ).

2. Power seat type: REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH

CAUTION:

(a) Remove the front seat assy RH (see page 72-1 1).

(b) Remove the power seat switch knobs (see page 72-1 1).

(c) Disconnect the connector and clamp.

(d) Remove the nut and belt.

REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH


(e) Install the belt with the nut.

Torque: 42 NVm (428 kgfVcm, 31 ftVlbf)

NOTICE: Do not allow the anchor part of the front belt and the protruding part of the floor panel to overlap.

(f) Connect the clamp and connector.

(g) Connect the battery's negative battery terminal.

(h) Initialize the occupant classification sensor (see page 72-1 1 or 72-19 ).

(i) Check the SRS warning lamp (see page 60-1 ).

3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH

CAUTION:

(a) Remove the front door scuff plate RH (see page 76-21 ).

(b) Remove the rear door scuff plate RH (see page 76-21 ).

(c) Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip (see page 76-21 ).

(d) Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip (see page 76-21 ).

(e) Remove the center pillar garnish lower RH (see page 76-21 ).

REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH


(f) Remove the front seat outer belt assy RH.

  1.  Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the shoulder belt anchor cover.

    HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  2.  Remove the bolt and shoulder anchor.

REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH


  1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the floor belt anchor cover.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH


  1. Disconnect the pretensioner connector, as shown in the illustration.
  2.  Remove the 2 bolts and outer belt.

REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH


(g) Install the front seat outer belt assy RH.

  1.  Check the amount of inclination required to lock the retractor.

NOTICE: Do not disassemble the retractor.

If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.

  1.  Install the front seat outer belt assy RH.

Torque: 7.5 NVm (77 kgfVcm, 66 in.Vlbf) for upper bolt 42 NVm (428 kgfVcm, 31 ftVlbf) for lower bolt

REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH


  1. Connect the pretensioner connector, as shown in the illustration.
  2.  Install the shoulder belt anchor to the shoulder belt anchor adjuster with the bolt.

Torque: 42 NVm (428 kgfVcm, 31 ftVlbf)

(h) Install the center pillar garnish lower.

(i) Install the floor anchor to the front seat with the bolt.

Torque: 42 NVm (428 kgfVcm, 31 ftVlbf)

(j) Install the front door scuff plate.

(k) Install the rear door scuff plate.

(l) Install the front door opening trim weatherstrip.

(m) Install the rear door opening trim weatherstrip.

(n) Connect the battery's negative battery terminal.

(o) Initialize the occupant classification sensor (see page 72-1 1 or 72-19 ).

(p) Check the SRS warning lamp (see page 60-1 ).
