(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the engine mounting insulator.

(a) Using a 10 mm Bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers.

25. INSPECT CYLINDER HEAD SET BOLT (See page 14-41 )
26. INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD GASKET
(a) Place a new gasket on the cylinder block surface with the Lot No. stamp upward.
NOTICE:
27. INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSY
HINT: The cylinder head bolts are tightened in 2 progressive steps.
(a) Apply a light coat of engine oil to the bolt threads and the area beneath the bolt heads that come in contact with the washers.
(b) Install the bolts and plate washers to the cylinder head.
NOTICE: Do not drop the washers into the cylinder head.
(c) Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly tighten the 10 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque: 79 NVm (806 kgfVcm, 58 ftVlbf)
(d) Mark the front side of the cylinder head bolt with paint.
(e) Retighten the cylinder head bolts 90 in the sequence shown in the illustration.
(f) Check that the painted mark is now at a 90 angle to the front.

Torque: 37 NVm (337 kgfVcm, 27 ftVlbf)
(b) Install the No. 1 and No. 2 exhaust manifold stays with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 44 NVm (449 kgfVcm, 32 ftVlbf)
35. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR NO.1 Torque: 12 NVm (122 kgfVcm, 9 ftVlbf)
